Redeeming the Times: Walking in Wisdom and Purpose

Updated: 2 days ago

There’s a sense in the Spirit that time is no longer something to be casually spent — it must be intentionally redeemed.

Ephesians 5:15-16 says, “See then that you walk circumspectly, not as fools but as wise, redeeming the time, because the days are evil.”

To redeem means to buy back, recover, or restore something that has been lost or misused.

Many of us have had seasons where time slipped away — years consumed by fear, procrastination, distractions, or even the wrong pursuits. But the good news is this: in God, nothing is wasted. When we yield our time to Him, He can restore what was stolen and multiply what remains.

1. The Wisdom of Awareness

The first step to redeeming time is awareness. We cannot recover what we don’t first recognise we’ve lost. The Holy Spirit invites us to pause and reflect: Where have I been investing my energy? Has my focus been aligned with purpose or with pressure?

Like the five wise virgins in Matthew 25, awareness means trimming our lamps and keeping them filled with oil. It means not getting caught unprepared when destiny calls.

2. The Discipline of Alignment

Redeeming time is not about busyness — it’s about alignment. When Esther stepped into her assignment, she wasn’t rushing; she was ready. Preparation met divine timing.

When our hearts are aligned with God’s will, even what looks like delay becomes divine development. Seasons of silence or obscurity are not wasted; they are wombs where destiny is formed.

3. The Power of Purpose

Every “called-out woman” must ask herself: Am I walking in purpose or merely reacting to pressure?

Redeemed time is purposeful time. It’s when we prioritise what heaven prioritises — prayer, obedience, and growth. Purpose brings clarity, and clarity gives direction.

Think of Deborah, who arose as a mother in Israel. Her leadership wasn’t born of convenience but of conviction. She discerned the times and responded with courage.

A Call to Action

Redeeming the times means journaling with intention, praying with focus, and moving with grace. It’s choosing growth over comfort, purpose over passivity.

If you’ve felt like time has slipped away — through regret, delay, or lost opportunities — God says, “I can restore to you the years that the locusts have eaten.” (Joel 2:25)

The Called-Out Woman rises each morning with renewed strength, redeeming every moment for His glory.

Because God is within her; she will not fall. (Psalm 46:5)
